The typographic mapping of a building
The typographic mapping of a building
Coming soon to this location: CHARMING RUINS.
At the time I lived in the Bijlmer, one of the huge block-house areas surrounding Amsterdam. The building, like each of the others in the area, has a name: Echtenstein.
The building complex was full of typographic signs directing inhabitants in and around the confusing layout of the apartments. The signs were mostly machine engraved plaques which used the most simple kind of lettering.
I followed and photographed all the plaques in my building and used the resulting images to create a typographic map.
